Jen's Typography Poster

The name to my poster is: "It is Better to Light One Candle Than to Curse the Darkness".

The best part of my poster is definitely the candle, itself. It contrasts heavily with the background. Also, because the flame is within an area of whitespace, it draws the eye to that spot. The quote, or Chinese Proverb, that inspired the poster is the most visible within the candle. Because the candle uses both English and Chinese characters, it is a nice blend of the two languages.

I believe that my poster highly relates to the quote itself. Not only is a candle the focal point of the image, the colors that surround the candle grow progressively darker. This suggests that the candle is truly lighting the darkness. Also, the blurred fonts that I used behind heavier fonts suggest glowing. All of the text interacts differently, perhaps to show that anyone is able to make their own light (the way that they light the darkness is different than anyone else).
