Artists pushing the boundries of Digital art

Here is an artist, Robert Hogdin, trained as a sculptor, who has found a creative outlet using digital media..... some of it is open source software, some is self- created, some from collaborating with others on ideas....

He describes being interested in magnets and most of his work uses magnetic "behavior" to create the images...

All of it is AMAZING visually! I wanted to show them to you and have you notice the artist's use of colors, images, textures and mostly- TIMING in the work..... how could YOU use those elements in your animation?

Let's explore photoshop's animation feature to make artwork that uses the 4th dimension- TIME!

Your challenge is to illustrate one of the emotions by combining the ELEMENTS of design with TIME!

Joshua Davis- Modern Abstract Expressionist

We saw a brief video of his work in class (working for BMW). Here is a link to his web site, for some more examples of his work and insight into his creative ideas.
Notice how he uses pattern, color and other "old" ideas of art in new ways with new technology.

Pretty cool how he uses the web as an always-changing canvas for his artwork!
